OLME Spyder

Olme Spyder Project (Vehicle Design 2009): Final rendering and CNC milling in full-scale of the car designed by our first year students.

The Transportation Design Programme gives the student competence to work with design and development of different types of vehicles; from bicycles and cars to public transportation means such as trains, buses and aircrafts. This is the first course of its type in the Nordic countries.

Students entering the Master’s programme in Transportation Design must have a basic understanding of designer tools together with a competent level of sketching skill. They will develop their creative thinking process with tutoring support focused on trying to solve future transportation problems. Students will explore how to design and develop vehicles of all types with a growing awareness of the environmental issues.

Our students are encouraged to build realistic vehicle concepts around future lifestyles. Equally, these designs must be attractive and desirable. The essence of the student work will be about form and function in balance with the human needs at the centre of their design development process.

International and Exchange Students

Teaching language is English and the course is open to international students. Exchange students are accepted preferably in the autumn term of the first year.

Field of Activities

The Transportation Design programme prepares students for working in the industry. Students are frequently employed in major corporations as well as design consultancies. We have a strong background in both transportation design practice and education. For this reason the quality of our education and the capabilities of students graduating from our programme have been well appreciated by the industry.

Many of our previous students have found a good position in the industry and in consultancies. Among those companies are Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, Saab Automobiles, Scania, BMWDesignworksUSA, Renault Trucks, GM, Aston Martin, Volkswagen, Ferrari, Bentley, Kiska and many more.

Qualification Obtained

After graduation you will obtain a Master of Arts degree in Transportation Design.
