Admission
About 10 students are admitted to the programme every year. Admission is based on the applicants qualifications verified in documentation, portfolio and interview - in person or by telephone. In addition to this, two exchange students may also be accepted for one or two semesters.
Programme Pre-requisites
Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in the field of Industrial Design or an equivalent creative education. Admission process is heavilly based on a portfolio selection. Design portfolios are our main reference to select the most creative and talented applicants.
Students are required to show a high level of English proficiency (equivalent to English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School). Read More
Specific Portfolio Requirements
We expect portfolios to display a selection of original works that visually represent, as well as textually communicate, the applicant's present capabilities and skill level in industrial design. Portfolios should communicate the applicant's ability to identify design opportunities and solve problems. Project documentation should describe the whole design process, from basic research to final proposals with strong consideration for the users of such products.
Portfolios must include several samples of the applicant's creative thinking process and artistic ability expressed both by freehand sketches and renderings. Three-dimensional form understanding is an important skill and therefore should also be documented in the portfolio. Pictures of mockups, sculptures, physical and digital models must be presented. The latter ideally will also represent the applicant's knowledge about manufacturing technologies and materials.
Good notion or genuine interest in different kinds of vehicles is important. Knowledge of 2D and 3D softwares can also make a difference. Both product and transportation design projects can be included among the different work samples.
(*) Important: Portfolios must be sent to us in printed format (no cds or other digital media). We prefer portfolios that will fit in a standard C4 size envelope or similar. This hard copy of the portfolio will not be returned to the applicant.
