Umeå Institute of Design is one of Sweden's few design education environments with post-graduate studies in industrial design. We have a strong tradition of applied research in collaboration with external partners, and have recently increased our basic research in design with several new PhD student, post doc and faculty positions. Higlighted research areas at UID are user understanding, processes for creativity and our digital everyday.
The PhD programme at UID is five years, and comprises courses, research, disseratation work and teaching or other departemental work. Open positions are announced here when available.
