Admission
Admission is based on the application, academic requirements, language proficiency and portfolio. A selection committee evaluates the applications.
Please note that applications that reach UID after February 15 will only be considered if study places are still avaliable on the course after the first round of application reviews and selection. Should you wish to hand in a late application, please contact us.
Notification of selections results is given via e-mail.
We do not give acceptance notice by phone, nor do we have the possibility to review or comment on portfolios.
A maximum of 15 students are admitted.
Programme Pre-requisites
Students must hold a Bachelor degree in industrial design, or the equivalent.
Students are required to show a high level of English proficiency (equivalent to English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School). Read More
Specific Portfolio Requirements
UID Design Connections seeks students who are interested in exploring a "crossover" of design disciplines and not just one specific field. The ability to search for new avenues and spaces where creative ideas is needed. You should be self motivated but in some courses work as a team member. Having a positive attitude with energy and enthusiasm are essential and a good level of skill with design tools ar required. A strong interest or knowledge of new materials and technologies is of value.
Your project work in the courses, could be at times related to product, transport, interaction or other disciplines if required. There are no borders in Design Connections just your creative vision on the future. A blend creative thoughts in a fast moving design process with time for reflection. Clearly communicating and visualising design is a key element in the course.
Assessment is based on the following:
- Focus on human relationship to design in general.
- Competence in communication and visualisation of ideas through sketching and digital tools.
- 2D and 3D software skills.
- A knowledge of the relationships of form and function.
- Experience of building physical mock-ups and presentation models an advantage.
- Understanding of industrial production and technology in general an advantage.
- Examples of problem identification and solving.
- Creative and innovative thinking.
- Experience with individual and team work.
- Overall positive attitude and approach to design.
Portfolios must be of A4 Digital PDF format.
Make sure the file size is not bigger than 10 MB

for students outside the European Union.
