"Innovation is the process of turning ideas into manufacturable and marketable form." Watts Humprey
Daniela Rothkegel from Germany is UID&s newest staff member and she got the PhD position with focus on innovative transportation design. Daniela came to Sweden in 2004 to work at Volvo Car Corporation. As a Senior Specialist Designer, Colour and Material, Product Design she worked with strategic development of materials as well as program design and concept cars.
When Daniela Rothkegel read the advertisement about the PhD position at Umeå Institute of Design she felt the job was meant for her. Through colleagues at Volvo she has heard a lot of great things about UID and with the new rector and her aim and direction, Daniela Rothkegel considers UID to be the place for her. Within her studies of industrial design Daniela also attended the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, where Anna Valtonen previously worked as a researcher.
Daniela will start her employment May 1st and before the job interview she had never been in Umeå. She will bring Woody, her rabbit, with her when she moves to Umeå, and apart from Daniela&s photographing interest, he is a lot like her; both of them are curious and like to be out in the nature.
