The ambassador receives the book Designed in Umeå

"If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India" Max Mueller

On Tuesday November 23rd, Ashok Sajjanhar, the Indian ambassador, visited Umeå and UID. Earlier this spring, in April, the previous ambassador, Shri Balkrishna Shetty also came for a visit, and Ambassador Sajjanhar laughed and said "It took one year for the last ambassador to visit UID, for me only three months."

The ambassador stated that the status of UID, as far as the Indian embassy is concerned, is eminent. During the tour of the school, the ambassador asked about the strengths of the UID educations, and Tapio Alakörkkö, Head of Department, explained about the close cooperation with the industry, about the user focus, and about the fact that most of our students attain work within six months of their graduation. Tapio also told the ambassador how several companies come to UID to recruit students even before the students have finished their education.
