”My work is a game, a very serious game” M. C. Escher
The four-week long Serious Play Project kicks off with Dario Buzzini, Interaction Design Lead at IDEO on Monday, December 14th and the project has two themes for the students in the Interaction Design Programme to choose between; one where the objective is to introduce the elderly to technology in a playful way and one with the purpose to inspire people towards a way of living green.
As inspiration Dario Buzzini shows the websites Thefuntheory.com and Living Climate Change and he encourages the students to look at the extremes, to go wild in their research phase because then they will find the stimulation they need. Since this is a short project the students have to find their focus quickly.
Thursday, December 17th Communication Designer Franz Blach coaches the students and he emphasizes the storytelling element of the process. It is crucial for the success or failure, of a game for instance, if you are able to tell a story that people understand and like. Because of this it is vital to talk to people during the research phase, even if it is just your mother or father; if they do not grasp it then you need to change it to some degree.
