On February 6, Jennifer Sarich-Harvey and Leila Sheldrick received third prize in the annual design competition Markslöjd Light Prize for their lamp ”jux”. This is the eighth year that the Markslöjd lighting company holds its competiton for design students in Scandinavia. The challenge this year was to design a concept for a lamp that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but that also considered energy consumption, ecological aspects, light design, and commersial factors. The awarded lamp concept was developed by Jennifer and Leila within an eco-design project during the autumn term course IDI Implement. The Markslöjd jury’s motivation was that their proposal used a classical lamp form – the ”father and son” model – and reformulated it, giving the lamp a whole new expression.
