APD student acknowledged in I.D. and The Red Dot Design Award

Patrik Pettersson, an UID alumni, has been acknowledged in both I.D. Magazine&s Annual Design Review and The Red Dot Design Award with two different concepts, both of which was developed during his studies at the MA programme Advanced Product Design.

I.D. Magazine&s Annual Design Review: "Intelligent Suitcase”
Patrik came second in the Concepts category in I.D. Magazines Annual Design Review with his project ”Intelligent Suitcase” developed during a term project at the APD programme. The overall theme of the project was "Design for User Experience”, the purpose of the project was, based on participatory observations and research, to identify design opportunities in order to improve and simplify the situation for the modern airline traveller.
The term project was carried out in cooperation with SAS – Scandinavian Airlines.

Selected comments from the jury:
Studying the Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, student Patrik Pettersson
set out to improve the user experience of domestic travel for his
product design class at Sweden’s Umeå Institute of Design. After much
exploration, partially documented by a 40-page brochure, Petterson
decided that a traveler could not travel smoothly if his luggage did
not…
… both jurors felt that treating luggage as express packages was a fine idea, especially when delivered with this much earnest optimism.
